Rain is expected to begin Saturday afternoon and continue until Sunday afternoon. Current forecasts indicate widespread totals of 40 to 70 mm, with the heaviest rain likely falling Saturday night.

The special weather statement covers:

There remains some uncertainty about exactly where the heaviest rain will fall. However, some areas could receive enough rain to cause water pooling on roads and localized flooding in low-lying or poorly drained locations.

Anyone travelling Saturday night or Sunday morning should be prepared for potentially difficult driving conditions. Environment Canada recommends considering adjustments to travel plans to avoid the worst conditions.

Continue to monitor the latest forecasts and alerts, as rainfall amounts and the location of the heaviest rain may become clearer as the system approaches.

  1. Thanks for weather update Eddie!
A messy weekend is headed our way. Hope you’re on your way back from Central or plan to stay put. I was speaking with someone from PEI and they said it was the heaviest rain they’d ever seen.
    Enjoy your weekend, keep safe!
