Today on the Island

Clouds break up through the day on the Island, though south-facing shores will hang onto more cloud. Highs climb into the lower and middle 20sº, though spots stuck in onshore southeasterly flow will be held to the teens. With the humidity, it’ll feel like the low 30sº in the warmest areas.

The bigger story: areas of showers and thunderstorms move into western Newfoundland this afternoon, then spread into Central NL later on. Some of these storms will be strong. Locally intense rainfall, frequent thunder and lightning, small hail, and wind gusts up to 80 km/h are all possible where the strongest cells set up.

Today in Labrador

Rain, showers, and thunderstorms continue across the Big Land today, with the heaviest activity in the east and north.

Looking Ahead to Tomorrow

One of the hottest days of the summer arrives tomorrow for central and eastern Newfoundland, with highs reaching the middle to upper 20sº.

My next update will be posted later today!
