A cold front currently located between Bonavista Bay and Daniel’s Harbour is seperating much colder air to the north and the summer-like air we felt yesterday. To the north of the front, temps are into the single digits and to the south it’s nearer to 10ºC. There are also area of rain and showers near and along the front from near Badger to Bonavista Bay, with an area of intense showers stretching from the northeast coast to near Bay d’Espoir.

The rain and showers with the front will clear off over the. next few hours as it sinks to the south. The cold air, however, will not. Temperatures to the south will quickly shoot into the teens this morning before falling into the single digits this afternoon and this evening. This animation below tells the story well.

In the Metro area, the drop will happen around lunch time. Readings will go from the teens to the single digits and it will keep falling from there as we get into the overnight. Notice by midnight the temperature is forecast to be near 0ºC?!
